Spaces designed
around the human.

Sapien Spaces is a human-centered built environment consultancy advising private clients, developers and project teams on the environmental and sensory conditions that influence human performance, wellbeing and longevity. We translate research across neuroscience, environmental psychology, building science and human health into practical considerations for planning, design and material decisions.

Built environments
shape how we live.

Light, air, sound, temperature, materials and spatial conditions are continuously experienced by the body and nervous system. Research across neuroscience, environmental psychology and environmental health increasingly examines how these conditions can influence attention, stress, sleep, recovery and behaviour.

Sapien Spaces brings these often-overlooked inputs into the design process early, when they can meaningfully inform the decisions that shape a space.

The Sapien Principles

A structured framework for considering the environmental, sensory and behavioural conditions that influence human experience within the built environment.
